Now that it's 2010, I guess I'd better catch up on the last 2 months of 2009! Josh and I both finished up our cross country seasons in November (I coach at Calvin and Josh started a team at WMC for the first time in some 30 years). We enjoyed a slightly slower pace for a few weeks before a crazy but good week of Christmas celebrations with family and friends began, and now are soaking up the last couple of days of vacation before school starts up again on Monday. Here are some pics to fill you in on our Christmas season.
Just after Thanksgiving, we shared with our families the news that another Baby Scholma is on the way! So far so good, and NO, we aren't going to find out what it is. You can find out when we do, sometime around July 4, 2010:)
Josiah really got the hang of riding the "horsie" at the Scholma grandparents house.
These are the only sort of Christmas pics we got - Josiah wouldn't cooperate very well in front of the tree for a nice picture, but one thing that he loves to do is give hugs and kisses. The pic on the right is him kissing a wooden moose figure that I have out as a Christmas decoration.
We've spent lots of time playing outside in the nice weather. Usually, I'm trying to see how much of the yard I can get raked before I have to go chasing Josiah around the front of thehouse and away from the road.
Carving Josiah's first pumpkin - he wouldn't reach inside, but did a good job of separating the seeds.
Everytime we go outside now, he has to go check out the pumpkin, pointing out and identifying it's facial features and pulling off the top to look inside and say how "eeewwwie" (aka yucky) it is.
And finally, the Halloween costumes. We had a couple that had been given to us....the Yoda was a little big, so maybe that will reappear next year, too - he'll never know, right?
I haven't been taking too many pictures lately, but we did get a few good videos recently. The first two are of most of the animal noises in Josiah's vocabulary right now. He's actually been doing them for a good 3 months now, but getting him to perform while being recorded is a trick in itself. The second two are from the other day when I caught him falling asleep sitting up. He was not happy that it was nap time. When he stopped crying, I peeked into his room, and this is what I found! Notice that he is fiddling around with his pipe - something he always does when he is falling asleep laying down. And his eyes remain closed the whole time. Finally after about 10 minutes of this, he rocked over and let himself lay down to sleep.
